The 2016 Range Rover Sport Td6 has a lot to offer Land Rover customers looking for improved efficiency and higher levels of torque, while maintaining the same level of quality and performance that Land Rover customers have come to expect. The vehicle manages a startlingly good 25 MPG combined, which is much better than the gasoline version of the vehicle that’s rated at 16 combined. The high level of fuel economy also helps increase the range of the Range Rover to a massive 588 miles on average, farther than any other Range Rover Sport on the market in the United States.
The car accelerates very effectively at lower speeds and gear shifts happen almost seamlessly thanks to the quality eight-speed automatic transmission. Drivers will notice a slight drop in power at the upper speeds of the vehicle versus the gasoline version, but for standard everyday driving the diesel actually feels more powerful thanks to all that torque.
A Well Tested Engine
While the 2016 Range Rover TD6 is the first diesel model offered in the United States, the engine has been tested heavily around the world. In the United Kingdom nearly the full lineup is diesel and the engine’s been used for years so it’s highly reliable and proven to perform as it should.
The Range Rover relies on a Diesel Exhaust Fluid injector system that helps create a chemical reaction that cuts down on the most harmful emissions produced by the vehicle before it the exhaust ever reaches the catalytic converter. The fluid is held in its own tank and must be refilled around every 10,000 miles in general. While it might be a bit of a hassle to refill the tank, it’s important to note that Land Rover will top it off for free each time it needs to be filled.
Nice New Features
The latest Range Rover comes with a few modern-day upgrades that drivers will enjoy. Things like a hands-free tailgate that opens up with the wave of a hand at the bumper, and a new infotainment system with a nicer touchscreen and better smartphone integration are included. The vehicle also comes w3ith an off-road self-driving feature where it manages the acceleration and power distribution, leaving the driver to steer the vehicle over particularly nasty terrain. It handles steep inclines and loose stones and sand quite capably when paired with quality tires.
The 2016 Range Rover Sport Td6 is a pretty cool SUV that should attract customers for a few reasons. It’s more efficient than the gas version and it’s got all that nice torque that’s really enjoyable to drive with, particularly at the lower end of the driving range. Speaking of driving range, it also travels considerably farther on a single tank, which is nice for long-distance traveling.
