Understanding the Intelligent Start-Stop System in Your Jaguar

June 24, 2014 rednoland Jaguar Tags: , , , , , 0 Comments

Many new Jaguar vehicles come with an Intelligent Stop/Start system to help you avoid idling your engine and wasting fuel. Instead of allowing the engine to continue running when the vehicle is at a standstill, the system will shut it off, and turn it back on as soon as the car needs to begin moving once again.
When the Engine Turns Off

The engine shuts off when you brake your vehicle to a complete stop. It will remain off as long as you hold the brake down. This means that as soon as you take your foot off the brake the engine springs back to life and you can begin driving once again. A warning light will turn on letting you know that the engine has been shut off, and that light will go out as soon as it turns back on again.

Locking the Engine in the Off State

If you want to keep your engine locked without worrying about if your foot is on the brake pedal or not you can do so by putting the vehicle in neutral. Simply shift to the neutral position and leave the vehicle that way until you are ready to start moving again. As soon as you shift to drive or reverse the engine will start up again and get you moving down the road.

Circumstances that Prevent Intelligent Stop/Start

There are certain circumstances that will keep the engine from shutting off. If the engine has not come it its full operating temperature yet then it will remain on to continue heating up. If the car decides that shutting off the engine will raise or lower the internal temperature of the vehicle to a temperature other than what the climate control is set to it will remain on to regulate that temperature.

If you select your gears using the shift paddles instead of the actual shift stick the engine will not shut off. If the driver’s seatbelt has not been fastened, or you press on the accelerator then the engine will remain on as well.

Preventing the Engine from Turning Off

Finally you can turn this system off if you do not want your engine shutting off and turning on all the time. To do this you simply press the “Eco Button” and a new warning light will show up in the instrument panel letting you know that you have turned off Intelligent Stop/Start. The only way that it will work again is if you press the “Eco Button” once again and set it to the on position.

This simple system will make driving more convenient and help you save a bit of fuel as well throughout your standard driving trips. Think about all those times that you were stuck in a traffic jam, had to deal with several red lights, or you were trapped in construction and you wasted a bunch of fuel idling. This won’t be a concern any longer and it will pay off over time.

Sebastian Vettel Shows Infiniti Fans what the Q50 is Made of

June 20, 2014 rednoland Infiniti News Tags: , , , , 0 Comments

Sebastian Vettel, Infiniti’s Director of Performance, spent the day at the track on June 4, showing the media and other car enthusiasts just what the Infiniti Q50 is capable of. Throughout the day Vettel managed to go around the track at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park more than 50 times, and gave everyone a true show of what the vehicle can do. Throughout the day a variety of different members of the media as well as special guests got a chance to join Vettel right in the car as he raced around the track. It was a fun experience for everyone involved and a chance for Infiniti to show the world what their brand’s really made of.

Testing out the Autocross Course

Getting to ride with Vettel through the exciting track was a great experience for many members of the media but it didn’t give them a chance to try out the Q50 for themselves, which was something that many were very interested in. Fortunately for them there was an Autocross course open to the public to try out in the Q50. This advanced course gives drivers a chance to test out the sedan in a variety of trying conditions at high speeds. This is just what drivers need to get a feel for the vehicle and find out what it’s truly capable of.

Performance Capabilities of the Q50

Infinity decided to hold the event at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in order to show off just how advanced the vehicle is and how well it handles. It was taken around a windy course that demonstrates how well this car corners, and its acceleration capabilities. It can go from 0 to 60 in just 5.5 seconds making it very light on its feet.

The Canadian Grand Prix

Vettel decided to help with this event before going on to defend his victory at the Canadian Grand Prix later in the week. “The speed of the track, the excitement of the participants really made today special and was a great warm-up before I head to Montreal and focus on the race.”stated Vettel. Although he didn’t manage to pull off another victory, he came in sixth place and nearly within a second of Lewis Hamilton, the winner of the race. Not a poor performance by any means, and it’s clear that he can compete with any of the best formula one drivers out there.

With skilled drivers like Sebastian Vettel as part of the performance team it’s clear that Infiniti cares a lot about the handling of their vehicles. Although the Q50 is a far cry from a formula one vehicle, it has some distinct sporty features that link the two together, and that is one of the things Infiniti is striving for.

If you like cars that go fast, or cars that are capable drivers you should take a look at the Infiniti Q50. This car can certainly move, and it doesn’t look half bad either.

The Cadillac Escalade isn’t your everyday SUV just designed to cart kids to soccer practice. It is a signature vehicle built to stand out from the crowd. It’s a rolling piece of art, according to Bob Boniface of Global Cadillac. The exterior of the vehicle is very important, because it’s what lets you know you’re driving a Cadillac. That’s why the design team spends so much time and effort on this aspect of the vehicle. When you drive around a Cadillac Escalade everyone around you will know it, because it won’t blend with the rest of the vehicles on the road.

Artistic Styling Cues

The shield-shaped grille and Galvano bright trim are clearly for aesthetic purposes only. The Galvano chrome used on the body of the Cadillac has a brighter trim level than standard chrome does, giving the vehicle a more refined look. This type of chrome is more difficult to apply, but the designers at Cadillac believe the extra effort is worth it for the end result.

Unique Headlamps and Tailamps

The Cadillac Escalade is known for having unique looking headlamps. The main lamps are set in a vertical formation which is very different from most other vehicles on the market that use horizontal lights. The lower fog lights are also unique because they are set in an L shape. It’s features like these that let the vehicle stand out. These vertical lamps have been constructed from quality LED lights to improve performance levels and give the vehicle a modern appearance while still retaining its unique look and design.

A Stylish Body

The body of the vehicle is now more sculpted and refined than ever before, and features a classy mirror-like finish. One thing you’ll quickly notice about the Escalade is that it doesn’t have many flat surfaces that aren’t broken up by detailed styling of one type or another. Between the variety of creases, an lifted portions of the body you have a very unique and highly detailed vehicle. This luxury vehicle sits on top of quality 20 or 22 inch wheels that serve to make it look bigger and more imposing while going great with the rest of the styling cues of the vehicle.

The Cadillac Escalade is in a league all its own. When people think of luxury SUVs it’s the first name to come to mind and has been a strong leader in the industry for years. This is in large part because so much time and effort is put into this vehicle. When you buy an escalade you are getting a unique vehicle that is very different from everything else out there. It’s equipped with the latest technology and relies on top-quality materials. A close attention to detail ensures that the Escalade looks modern and luxurious. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for, and with the 2015 Cadillac Escalade you get a whole lot.

Tech Tuesday: Entering an Address in the Jaguar Navigation System and Turning Voice Controls On or Off

June 3, 2014 rednoland Jaguar Tags: , , , , , 0 Comments

The navigation system in your Jaguar vehicle is feature rich and can be a bit confusing to use at first. This set of directions teaches you how to navigate to an initial address, and how to turn the voice guidance system on or off. With voice guidance you can easily hear the directions as they are needed, making navigation easier when you are driving.

Entering a Destination

Before you can begin entering travel destinations into your system you have to move to the navigation menu. You can do this be pressing the “NAV” button to the right side of the touchscreen, or by pressing the digital “Navigation N” button near the center of the touchscreen itself. Press the “Continue” key to proceed to the navigation map.

To begin typing in your destination you press the “Dest entry” key and you will be presented with an array of options. You can choose to enter an entire address, a specific zip code or physically select a point on the map. For this tutorial we’ll focus on entering an address using the “Address” option.

You’ll have several fields to fill in to complete your address entry. Tap on the town field first and begin typing in the name of the town. You’ll notice that letters are blacked out when you enter in your letters, and that’s because the system removes any of the options that aren’t available. You can type out the entire name, or click on “List” and scroll around it until you find the town you are searching for.

Now you have to follow the same steps for the road name that you did for the town. When the road name has been entered you can either type in the house number that you want to go to, or press “Ok” and begin navigating to the center of the road.

The destination will now appear on your map and you can use the circle of arrows around it to adjust it in any direction that you like. If you would like to begin navigating to the location, simply tap the “Go” button and navigation will begin.

Turn Voice Guidance On or Off

In order to turn voice guidance on or off you have to press the “Nav menu” soft key on the screen of your map. Then you have to touch the “Route voice guidance” key and you have either turned the guidance system on or off depending on what it was already set to. If you turn on the voice guidance system each announcement that it makes will mute any other audio that you have going through your vehicle’s sound system at that time.

Adjust Voice Guidance Volume Level

If you would like to turn the voice up or down you can do so very simply. First tap the “Nav” key on the bar at the top of your map, it features a speaker icon with sound waves coming out of it. After you have touched the key you can turn the volume dial to the right of the shifter to adjust the volume level. The digital volume level will move up or down as you turn the knob, making it easy to get the volume to your desired level.
