The Safety Features You Should Be Looking for in Your Jaguar

November 24, 2015 rednoland Jaguar Tags: , , , , ,

Cars are loaded with different safety features today, but just because you see a long list padded with words about safety doesn’t mean you’re riding around in a safe vehicle. After all, every automaker wants to sell their vehicle, and they are happy to list of every feature that it has, whether that feature is going to do you any good or not. That is why you need to learn the difference between important features and features that you could probably do without. When you know the difference judging vehicles will be much easier to do overall.

Rear Cameras and Sensors

Backing up is one of the most dangerous actions that you can do in a vehicle because you really can’t see what is going on very well. While some people are better at it than others, backing up is always going to come with more risk than going forward. That’s why vehicles are coming equipped with cameras to give you a better view of what is going on out back. These same vehicles come with sensors as well that set of different alarms or alerts letting you know more about what is going on.

Adjustable Cruise

A feature known as adaptable or adjustable cruise is featured on many vehicles today and it’s a good one to watch out for. It essentially lets your vehicle see the other cars on the road and pick up on how fast or slow they are going. This is an important feature that lets you set your speed and will slow the car down if others in front of you slow down. It helps you avoid rear-ending another vehicle and is a feature that would really cut down on accidents.

Forward Collision Systems

A feature that goes along with those adaptive cruise sensors is forward collision avoidance. This is a mix between automatic braking and alert systems to let you know when a collision is likely. It keeps you on your toes while adjusting the vehicle to avoid collisions even if you aren’t watching what is going on and even when vehicles slow down quickly.

Self Operating Headlights

Driving at night is a real chore because you have to switch between high and low settings everywhere you go. It’s even more annoying when you get hit by a driver who doesn’t seem to care about switching off the high setting. There are cars being sold today with lights that handle this task all on their own. They switch to high when no cars are coming and drop down to low when cars get in range. This keeps you from worrying about doing it, and it should keep everyone from blinding one another as well.

It’s easy to see how these safety features can make a major difference in how people drive their vehicles. When you’re shopping for a new car look for these features above all else, because they are the ones that matter the most.

The All New Range Rover Travels Over a Paper Bridge

November 17, 2015 rednoland Land Rover Tags: , , , , , , ,

Jaguar and Land Rover are known for doing some over the top stuff when revealing vehicles, and the automaker did so yet again when unveiling the all-new Range Rover. Thanks to a lot of hard work and careful designing, the automaker made the 2016 Range Rover the 45th anniversary of the Range Rover the first vehicle to drive over a paper bridge in the world. That’s an interesting title for a very impressive feat.

range rover paper bridge

The Bridge

The all-new Range Rover is a great looking vehicle, but let’s be honest, the real hero of this story is the 20+ foot bridge composed of just paper. It’s impressive when you look at the papery arch, but it becomes much more so when you realize that it’s not held together with bolts or glue. Instead the paper is just squished together in a highly compacted fashion. It relies on the strength of the arch design perfected more than 1,000 years ago, but it’s very cool to see a full-sized SUV drive over a span made from paper.

Land Rover recruited Steve Messam, paper bridge designer, to come and design and help assemble the bridge designed to set the new world record. All the paper used during construction was donated by James Cropper PLC. a British manufacturer.

A Fist Full of Firsts

When the Range Rover was released in 1970 it was the very first vehicle to travel through the treacherous Darien Gap, a section between Central and South America that’s so difficult most people still avoid travelling through it by land today. In 1989 the Range Rover was the first vehicle with 4×4 that also came with ABS anti-lock brakes. Just three years later in 1992 the Range Rover was the first vehicle in the segment to get an electronic air suspension and electronic traction control. In 2012 it was the first all-aluminum SUV and now it’s the first vehicle to travel over a paper bridge. It has a long and rich history, and that’s part of the fun of owning a Range Rover.

Travelling over Paper Terrain

Not only was the bridge itself pretty darned impressive, but the ease of which the Range Rover traversed is was just as impressive. A paper bridge isn’t likely to be a very easy surface to grip onto, especially when it’s positioned into a delicate supporting arch that creates a circular driving surface. Even still the Range Rover slinked up one side and down the other without a moment’s hesitation. It’s amazing how easily it accomplished the feat.

Try building a paper bridge at home on your own and you’ll see what an impressive feat this is. To be accomplished in just a couple days of construction is even more impressive.

The 2017 Jaguar Base F-Type is Now Considerably More Affordable

Jaguar Slashes Base F-Type Prices

There’s no arguing that Jaguar makes quality cars and that statement goes double for the F-Type coupe. It’s a beautiful car and it’s a blast to drive around. Now you can have fun for even less when you pick up the 2017 model. Not only is it improved but it’s actually a couple grand less than it was supposed to be. The base model no starts off at $62,395, that’s a price reduction of $3,600 overall.

2016 Jaguar F-Type

Why the Decrease?

Jaguar made a few changes in order to create this price reduction in a time when it seems like everything else is simply going up in price. First of all the company axed the panoramic moonroof that was a standard feature in 2016 and it went from two 14-way power adjustable seats to just the driver’s seat having a 6-way power adjustable seat. Jaguar decided to hold onto the awesome 770-watt stereo system though so the model really didn’t lose that much in order to achieve that price drop.

Jaguar made the move to make one of its most popular vehicles more affordable to hopefully coax more buyers to make a move and pick up an iconic luxury vehicle. The move should entice at least a few more buyers to take action, but many will still be put off by all the added money that the options packages add to the vehicle.

Dropped Prices aren’t Across the Board

While the base model of the F-Type is more affordable in 2017 some of the more upscale models increased in price. The other trim levels all increased by $1,800. The Premium trim level coupe will set you back $67,795 and the convertible costs a whopping $70,895. For the added cost you’ll enjoy the 380-HP S engine and a nice  smooth adaptive suspension, enhanced brakes, bigger wheels and a limited slip differential.

2016 Jaguar F-Type R

Move up to the F-Type R

The sleek and violent F-Type R comes equipped with all-wheel drive and a monster 550 HP V-8 engine with an automatic transmission. It starts at $106,395 at the coupe level and costs  $109,245 for the convertible version.

Even though the base model of the F-Type is considerably more affordable in 2017, it’s going to be difficult finding a dealership that actually has the model without a bunch of upgrades. The base model is a good place to start if you’re looking to get your hands on one of the leading luxury cars in the industry, but if you want the full experience it makes sense to shell out for at least one of the premium models instead.

Jaguar May Have Two Additional SUVs Coming

November 3, 2015 rednoland Jaguar Tags: , , ,

According to recent reports Jaguar is planning on releasing two other SUVs on top of the F-Pace that’s already planning for release sometime in 2017. While the F-Pace is expected to be somewhat of a compact crossover, Jaguar is planning on expanding its lineup to include a mid-sized and large SUV. They aren’t official yet, but according to Carwow from the UK, the automaker is producing an E-Pace and a J-Pace.

Jaguar F-Pace

The E-Pace

This Evoque sized SUV is expected to be sold at a lower level than the F-Pace. It’s going to be an affordable alternative to the F-Pace that Jaguar expects to be the most successful of all the SUVs that it sells to customers.

The J-Pace

This large SUV is also going to be built over top of the Range Rover frame and is supposed to be the upper-end of the Jaguar spectrum. The exciting thing about this SUV, other than the fact that it’s going to be large, is that it will rely on the aluminum platform designed for the current Range Rover. That will make it more efficient and lightweight, which should really help bolster the fuel economy of the vehicle. That’s a big deal when you’re talking about such a large vehicle.

Why the Variants?

Jaguar is simply offering the different SUVs to appeal to a wider group of customers. Not everyone is going to want an SUV the size of the F-Pace, and that’s precisely why the company is planning on the alternative sized vehicles as well. The three options will give Jaguar fans something to choose from and should help the company get a bit more of the market share so that it can really dig in within the United States and strengthen its offerings.

There’s no guarantee that either of these two SUV variants are going to be produced, but they both seem pretty likely. Basing all its success on just two vehicles didn’t seem like a good strategy for Jaguar in the United States and in other places around the world, and these SUVs will help the company grab even more customers in the UK and the US.

It’s likely that these SUVs would be offered even later on down the road than the F-Pace. A 2018 launch wouldn’t be inconceivable for these vehicles, but it’s hard to put a timeline on a project that Jaguar hasn’t even officially announced yet.

Increase Your Efficiency with the 2016 Range Rover Sport Td6

October 26, 2015 rednoland Land Rover Tags: , ,

The 2016 Range Rover Sport Td6 has a lot to offer Land Rover customers looking for improved efficiency and higher levels of torque, while maintaining the same level of quality and performance that Land Rover customers have come to expect. It’s a mesh of quality and technology that works really well, and it’s an exciting product that’s more refined than you might expect.

2016 range rover sport td6

Quiet Performance

Let’s face it, no matter how much the automotive industry swears by diesel vehicles, they’re louder than gasoline-powered cars, trucks and SUVs most of the time. That’s the case with the 2016 Range Rover Sport Td6 as well, but to a much lesser extent than usual. For a slight sacrifice in power, the vehicle is quieter and more efficient that most diesels on the market, and only those with the most discernible hearing will even realize that the vehicle is a diesel at all.

The lower level of volume from the vehicle is in large part thanks to the graphite engine block. It absorbs vibrations more effectively and cuts down on the audio tones noticeably.

Power and Fuel Economy

The Td6 Range Rover comes with a 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine and offers 254 HP and 440 lb.-ft. of torque overall. That’s less than the gasoline V6 version, but it’s also with way more torque than the gas version so there’s a nice tradeoff that diesel owners get. The vehicle manages a startlingly good 25 MPG combined, which is much better than the gasoline version of the vehicle that’s rated at 16 combined. The high level of fuel economy also helps increase the range of the Range Rover to a massive 588 miles on average, farther than any other Range Rover Sport on the market in the United States.

The car accelerates very effectively at lower speeds and gear shifts happen almost seamlessly thanks to the quality eight-speed automatic transmission. Drivers will notice a slight drop in power at the upper speeds of the vehicle versus the gasoline version, but for standard everyday driving the diesel actually feels more powerful thanks to all that torque.

A Well Tested Engine

While the 2016 Range Rover TD6 is the first diesel model offered in the United States, the engine has been tested heavily around the world. In the United Kingdom nearly the full lineup is diesel and the engine’s been used for years so it’s highly reliable and proven to perform as it should.

Environmentally Friendly

The Range Rover relies on a Diesel Exhaust Fluid injector system that helps create a chemical reaction that cuts down on the most harmful emissions produced by the vehicle before it the exhaust ever reaches the catalytic converter. The fluid is held in its own tank and must be refilled around every 10,000 miles in general. While it might be a bit of a hassle to refill the tank, it’s important to note that Land Rover will top it off for free each time it needs to be filled.

Nice New Features

The latest Range Rover comes with a few modern-day upgrades that drivers will enjoy. Things like a hands-free tailgate that opens up with the wave of a hand at the bumper, and a new infotainment system with a nicer touchscreen and better smartphone integration are included. The vehicle also comes w3ith an off-road self-driving feature where it manages the acceleration and power distribution, leaving the driver to steer the vehicle over particularly nasty terrain. It handles steep inclines and loose stones and sand quite capably when paired with quality tires.

The 2016 Range Rover Sport Td6 is a pretty cool SUV that should attract customers for a few reasons. It’s more efficient than the gas version and it’s got all that nice torque that’s really enjoyable to drive with, particularly at the lower end of the driving range. Speaking of driving range, it also travels considerably farther on a single tank, which is nice for long-distance traveling.

Jaguar is Getting Children behind the Wheel

October 21, 2015 rednoland Jaguar Tags: , , ,

It’s hard to forget about your first time behind the wheel of a vehicle. It doesn’t matter if you were driving around a local department store parking lot, down backroads out in the country or something a bit more illegal. That’s what Jaguar is counting on with its latest initiative and it’s working to help prepare children for safe driving practices while getting its brand out there a bit more as well. They’re doing this by letting children as young as 11 take The Jaguar XE for a spin, that’s right, your 11 year old can drive a Jag, as long as he happens to live in the UK.

jaguar xe 2.0

What They are Doing

Jaguar is going around to six different locations around the UK and making the XE available to children between 11 and 17 who want to learn more about safe driving first hand. Of course each of these children will have to operate the vehicle on a closed track, but that shouldn’t bring the experience down for them at all.

Real-Life Experiences

The events are supposed to put children into experiences that simulate real-life road experiences. Of course the child isn’t going to be allowed full control over the vehicle, there is going to be a check in place to help make the whole thing a bit safer. A government-approved instructor will be sitting alongside the child and will have his hands on a set of dual controls to take over just in case. While it sounds like Jaguar is actually taking control away from children, in reality the dual control setup gives them more freedom. They’ll be able to act as the sole driver while going through the course and they won’t have an adult hovering over top of the controls waiting for something to happen.

The Car

Jaguar is going to be using the Jaguar XE 2.0 liter four-cylinder diesel vehicle for the project. The car packs a very healthy 180 HP and should be more than enough power to be a fun experience for the children.

Excellent Promotion

This safety event is an excellent promotional effort made by Jaguar. Not only will the company get its name out there for helping to improve road safety, but it also gets it’s new XE out in the media more and helps acquaint children, potential consumers of the future, with the Jaguar brand and firmly plants itself into the memory of all those children taking a car for a spin for the very first time. It’s a brilliant move by the company and a pretty cool event for all those children who will get to experience driving for the first time.

The Jaguar Active Key

October 14, 2015 rednoland Jaguar Tags: , , , , , ,

For all the extreme sports fans and swimmers out there Jaguar has just the answer for trying to keep your keys safe. Instead of forcing you to try and keep a key in a protected pocket, or relying on a code to gain entry to your vehicle, Jaguar has come up with an Activity Key to help make the process much simpler. It’s an easy solution that will help you swap out those cumbersome keys for a sleek and stylish wristband instead. That means you can forget about trying to find a place to stash your keys, including in a wheel well storage case, and you can move on to a more reliable means of keeping your items safe.

Jaguar Activity Key
Jaguar Activity Key

How it Works

You leave your keys right in the F-Pace when you get out so they are ready for you when you decide that you want to leave. Wearing the Activity Key around your wrist, you walk to the rear of the vehicle and touch the wristband against the designated spot to lock up the SUV. When you finish with your activities you walk back to the tailgate once again and touch the same spot with the key to unlock the SUV and get back inside to use the standard key to drive away.

Bring it Anywhere

The wristband can be carried anywhere that you go. It’s entirely waterproof and designed to remain firmly on your wrist no matter what the activities are. Whether you are surfing out in the ocean, swimming laps or taking part in a impromptu basketball game at the nearby rec center you won’t have to worry about losing your keys ever again.

Adding it to the vehicle

Anyone that decides they want the Activity Key with the Jaguar F-Pace can have it added to it with a $400 option. There’s no information about whether it will be available for other Jaguar models in the future, but it’s sure to be offered with the first ever SUV from the automaker.

The new feature known as Activity Key will debut on the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace SUV and it should be another good reason to consider getting the vehicle. The SUV is set to be released with a base price of $41,985, and there is a limited edition version of the vehicle that will start at $70,695 and move up from there.

The Complete Jaguar XE S Review

October 6, 2015 rednoland Jaguar Tags: , , , ,

Jaguar is fighting hard to gain market share in the United States and its answer to the brand’s slow growth in the market comes in the form of two vehicles. The 2017 Jaguar XE S and the F Pace SUV. Both models look stunning, but the XE S is quite an appealing package for a driver looking for a stylish commuter or a small family vehicle.

2017 Jaguar XE S

It Looks Spectacular

One of the best things about the Jaguar XE S is its appearance. It’s highly attractive without being flashy. It as more of an upscale muscular look. The car benefits from a redone aluminum frame that’s designed to be lighter and more efficient. The new body has a stylish and performance-centric feel that isn’t over the top by any means. It’s simple style that’s trendy, masculine and clearly high quality. The small center grill comes with a slight bevel and really rounds out the bulged out hood and angular edges around the front end. Even though the look of Jaguar’s latest XE isn’t over the top, it’s clearly a Jag. The company knows how to produce a distinctive looking vehicle, and does it quite well.

It’s Got all the Bells and Whistles

You aren’t buying a bare bones vehicle when you decide to get the 2016 XE S. The car comes packed with an advanced media setup all tied to convenient steering wheel buttons and an 8-inch touchscreen display. It’s a simple matter to adjust the navigation system, audio playback, climate control and most of the crash avoidance systems all with that central media setup.

There’s even smartphone connectivity options with an accompanying app. You can pre-cool or pre-heat your vehicle right from your smartphone app when you have the XE S. If that’s not technologically advanced I don’t know what is.

Enjoy a Comfy Seat

The Jaguar XE S is luxurious on the inside. It’s outfitted with leathers, padded seats and more than enough space for even a tall driver to lounge comfortably. Sure the rear seats aren’t the largest, but there is still enough space for children to sit comfortably or an adult to sit in a slightly cramped position.

Backed By a Reliable Warranty

The Jaguar XE is one of two new models being offered in the United States along with the F-Pace SUV. Both vehicles come with an excellent 60,000 mile warranty that’s good for up to five years. They also come with 24-hour roadside assistance and have free scheduled maintenance to help keep that car looking nice and shiny.

It’s not really track material like the F-Type is, but the XE S is a highly capable driver with supreme handling and plenty of power. It’s an attractive package that should appeal to a wide range of drivers and allow them to buy into the Jaguar family for less than its flagship F-Type would cost.

Land Rover’s Convertible SUV

October 2, 2015 rednoland Uncategorized Tags: , , , ,

Even if you think you’ve seen it all, you’ll likely be surprised by Land Rover’s new topless Evoque. The automaker is billing the vehicle as the world’s first convertible compact SUV and it’s certainly an interesting concept. There’s something unique about a crossover with a missing top. It looks like a beefed up convertible, and from looking at the video it handles like a pretty solid off-road offering.

range rover evoque convertible

It’s a Safe Driver

The idea itself is a bit of an oddball one because most people purchase SUVs to be safer while driving, and convertibles are known for being less safe overall, but Land Rover assures drivers that it’s just as capable as the standard Evoque. When the roof was removed the vehicle lost rigidity, but it didn’t remain with that lower level of rigidity. To make up the difference the Land Rover engineers made extensive changes to the body to make it much more rigid and capable.

Built with a Durable Soft Top

You would think an SUV convertible would be equipped with a rugged hard top for those particularly challenging trips, but it’s expected that the SUV will actually come with a cloth top that’s more lightweight and compact than a hard top would be. This frees up more cargo space while allowing a more flexible design overall.

Plenty of Power

though the body of the vehicle received extensive modifications, the engine was left untouched. That’s good news for Land Rover fans looking for a powerful convertible to motor around in. It comes packed with the 240 HP 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine, that’s meant to provide plenty of torque and drive power.

When You Can Get Your Hands on It

While Land Rover is showing off the concept car now, it isn’t expected to be released until the spring of 2017. There’s still plenty of waiting to be done before you can motor around in a topless SUV, unless you take a saw to your vehicle out in the driveway, but we can’t recommend that you do that, even if it could be pretty cool.

Jaguar Offers Free Maintenance to New Customers

September 22, 2015 rednoland Jaguar Tags: , , ,

Things just got a little better for Jaguar car owners because the vehicles are getting more affordable thanks to two key changes that the car company is making to its lineup. Now the cars are more affordable, and they come with free maintenance as well. These improvements come just after a minor dip in sales to the Jaguar brand. Car purchases dropped down a slight 4.4 percent throughout August, but these improvements are likely to alter that a bit.

2016 Jaguar XF

The Details

Jaguar plans to lower it’s 2016 model prices by between $1,500 and $3,000 making the vehicles slightly more affordable, though the difference isn’t something that will suddenly create a surge of new customers or keep it out of luxury car price ranges. The vehicle is also going to come with a car warranty known as EliteCare that’s pretty comprehensive and cuts maintenance tasks out of the picture.

The EliteCare Warranty

The warranty offers free scheduled maintenance for vehicle owners for the first five years or 60,000 miles. The warranty will make keeping the vehicle in top condition much easier to do, but they won’t cover parts that wear out quickly such as tires and brake pads. The maintenance package also comes with a free roadside assistance program and a phone app that lets car owners monitor their vehicles more closely and perform actions such as locking and unlocking doors using their smartphone for convenience.

Launching Option Packages

Another improvement that Jaguar is offering to its customers is a set of option packages that are universal between all the different models. Now each vehicle will have a premium, prestige and R-Sport package available. The different packages include different sets of features and getting the level of luxury that you want is now as simple as picking the appropriate level. It greatly simplifies the ordering process and will make it easier for Jaguar buyers to pick out an ideal vehicle without pouring over every single feature that they want.

It’s hard to say whether these new incentives will encourage more people to shop for a Jaguar, but they’re certainly nice and should help lower the cost of owning a Jaguar considerably. Anyone crunching the numbers will see that the new and improved maintenance warranty is a real value.
